South Padre Island is at the southern tip of Texas, just above Brownsville. It is an extremely narrow strip of land that lies between the Gulf of Mexico on the east and Laguna Madre, the Intracoastal Waterway, to the west.

The southern end of South Padre Island is closer to the mainland and much busier than the northern end. The northern end is much quieter.

Nice view of the ocean - elevators needed work - May 2009
Price seemed high - construction underway - room was small, furniture was big - I had a view of the ocean, but also of piles of junk on the side of the hotel - nice pool, but drunk guests with coolers were too much - not so happy - May 2008
Entrance was one big construction zone - smelled like mildew - nice pool area, but bar was only open on weekends - we found our vehicle covered with a tarp to protect it from falling debris from construction - Mar 2008
There was ongoing construction - room was dirty and felt old and stale - needed updating - balcony doors were badly rusted and hard to open - Aug 2007
Right on the beach - nice hotel, but expected more for the price - AC dripped on floor - terrible housekeeping, had to call to have room cleaned - never got extra toilet paper, tissue, or soap - big pool with lots of chairs and swim-up bar - workout room was small - Jul 2006

Conveniently located; walk to the beach - rates were fair - found a hair on my pillow, and more in the bathroom - shower didn't drain well; I told the staff, and it was taken care of while I was out - inside of pool and whirlpool needed to be repainted - only one table in the pool area, and it was in bad shape - lounging chairs needed to be replaced - continental breakfast area was nice, clean, and quiet - great coffee - Sep 2009
